Christmas is on the way and the city is lighting up accordingly. Among many Christmas market options we picked one from a list and visited last weekend. It was in the garden of a castle which is 40km south of Gothenburg. The market was open for two weekends only, so it was very crowded. People with traditional costumes were selling lots of different items from decorations and leather gloves, to woolen cardigans and cookies.
After we checked out the market, we walked to the castle. The building itself looked so attractive. Tjolöholm Castle was built between 1898-1904. The architect Lars Israel Wahlmann made it in a British style. There have been many movie scenes that have taken place in this castle, for example Melancholia from Lars Von Trier.
There was a Santa Claus giving away candies to children from one of the windows of the castle. Even I got one! We only had a small tour in the castle, since none of the rooms were open except for the cafe and restaurant. Then we spent some time in the back yard, which looked much more beautiful than the front. The view of the sea with the well-planned garden was incredibly nice!
