We spent the last day of our vacation in Skopje. The city has been the capital of Macedonia since the breakup of Yugoslavia in 1991. Skopje has a very deep history from 4000 BC, but most of the history was destroyed by the earthquake in 1963, as well as the life of people.
If I hadn’t seen the mountains surrounding Ohrid Lake, I would easily think that it is a sea rather than a lake. Ohrid is a small town in Macedonia. There are 365 churches in the historical city, and this makes it the holy land of the Balkans.
Barış, Yafen and I decided to join our friends Jordanka and Nikola when they were visiting their families in Macedonia. On the last three days of their visit, we flew to the capital Skopje and joined them there.
